forgetting to remove the 30mm machine gun firing pin from the tub of dirty oil post cleaning prior to transiting the suez, eastwards
In complete disregard for MARPOL, i allowed my gunner to throw the contents over the side..
No we did not have a spare...
Transiting the Bab al Mendeb without a 30mm cannon on a ship where the only weapon is the 30mm cannon, was a little embarrasing...and expensive...
As the Weapons officer, i had to fall on my sword...
I still chortle at sitting with the skipper writing the operational Defect A1 (the highest category (which is visible to the Chief of Defence Staff on his daily briefing..)
I think we went for the 'a freakish wave came over the foc'sle and the firing pin fell over the side sir'

. Very good time to look at increasing you pension contribution IMO even if it's just short term.
Talk to Meow and IndieG just to be safe though. I mean I invested in Coca-Cola in late '05, worst investment I've ever made and I'm still only cents up on my initial position in terms of security price

Once misread a take off and ordered 190K of 400mm cable that we didnt need !
