Re: Mind your Language.
The show as about a young English ESL teacher teaching a class of foreign students. They had several nationalities/ethnic groups represented as students.
IIRC, the student nationalities were:
French woman
Swedish woman
German woman
Chinese woman
Indian Hindu woman
Japanese guy
Hungarian guy
Greek guy
Italian guy
Pakistani Muslim guy
Sikh guy
Oddly no Russians, Jews,Yanks, Hispanics or African students. Maybee they didn't want to go over a certain class size.

I was a little kid when I saw the show (in the early 80s). It wasn't like Black Face, no crude caricatures. It seemed to me as just light hearted humour using stereotypes.

They never had an American, for some reason they can never talk the language...

Benny Hill was a genius though - only taken off the air because some do gooder studio twats felt he might offend the .01% of feminists who cannot take a joke and distinguish between real life and TV. Pity he was at the height of his popularity.

I thought Benny Hill simply died. Anyway, Mind Your Language would seem politically incorrect these days. Making fun of ethnic minorities and their attempts to speak English. The teacher always came across as a real wimp.
