Michael Palin
I love this guy, such natural warmth and sense of friendship, which comes across strongly on the telly...........
Only mention it because it was TWENTY years ago this week that he came through Jeddah-Riyadh-Qatar-Dubai as part of his original journey, 'Around The World In 80 Days'.
Twenty years? Blimey..............

Like his shows but not his politics or his stupid "Transport 1880" (or whatever they call themselves now) organisation. Flies around the world yet urges others not to use their cars to "shave the whales" or something like that, what a f:curse:cking twunt!

Anyone remember 'Ripping Yarns'.
Being a footy fan, my fave was always...
<snip>
"Golden" Gordon Ottershaw's devastated reaction to his beloved Barnstoneworth United being thrashed 8-1..
<snip>
Had to copythat bit from BBC's site, as I couldn't remember the details, just some of the story and the images.

Re: Michael Palin
Most telling moment - on his return to London on Day 80, he was given a volley of vitriolic abuse by a newspaper vendor who thought he was being filmed. MP made some scathing remark about how he should be grateful for the publicity or whatever............ only to realise that the front page of the Evening Standard was covering the Clapham rail disaster that had happened earlier that day............ cue: sombre mood...........
