Lunch Date
So I'm meeting a nice young lady tomorrow for lunch and i'm looking for some suggestions as where's nice.... but not too OTT.... somewhere chilled and casual. We're both currently on a bit of a health kick and I am planning not to booze until I fly out to the UK at the end of the month, so somewhere avoiding all the brunch crowd would be good. That said booze should be an option in case we change out mind and want to get swallyed!
So: - Nice but not OTT - Casualish - Away from the brunch crowd Somewhere a bit different would be nice. Would rather it not be waaaaay down in the Marina / Palm but not totally of limits. Was maybe thinking Jetty Lounge. Cheers |
Re: Lunch Date
Surely a nice brunch is a good idea?
I'm going to St Regis again on Friday - was excellent and would suit a date type outing I think. I think Prime 68 haven't restarted brunch yet since redesigning it, always a great place for food. Otherwise, in the Habtoor City there must be some nice restaurants in that atrium bit (or whatever it's called)? Will keep thinking. Friday LUNCH not brunch is a tough one. |
Re: Lunch Date
What about one of the Tom & Serge venues? No booze but you can always go for drinks elsewhere afterwards.
There's always the Lime Tree. Note: I'm assuming you're looking for creative food on the healthier side. Yeah, there's Jumeirah Janes aplenty but the food is still good. Failing that, one of the Madinat restaurants? Food isn't amazing but decent and there's always the booze option if you want it. I don't think they do brunches outside the hotels. |

Or....IKEA? |
Re: Lunch Date
Like fish? Alto Mar in the fishing harbour in Jumeirah 2 would be nice. No booze, nice setting (a few tables outside), great Portuguese style fish cooking.

Re: Lunch Date
Or if you want to be uber healthy, Life N'One in Jumeirah 1. Nice garden.

Re: Lunch Date
Some good suggestions so far.... however, I've never met the girl tho hence why I'm not going all out brunch style. I have done that before on a first date but due to the no booze thing I'd rather not as I am weak and I know I would end up getting on it as i'd be jealous of everyone else.
Madinat's not a bad shout. |

Also allows easy escape routes and many, many options to hide. |

Not uber healthy! Meat / seafood is what I need!
Alto Mar is lovely if you want something away from the standard hangouts. Show her you are not a cliche? ;) |

Why not just skip lunch and take her up the Khalifa?

Folly is the new place opened by Scott & Nick, formerly of Table 9. Think high end gastro pub. Plenty of cocktails (plus great wines) and their food is amazing.

I wouldn't go somewhere too formal, so a posh restaurant isn't right. Where did you "meet" her - hope it's not like in Benidorm when Geoff Maltby meets Lesley..... |

Had a look. Looks good, but the kind of place you end up dropping a grand and come out starving.

Re: Lunch Date
Calling a place 'Folly' in Dubai of all places is just asking for the divine intervention of Fate.... in a not very pleasant way ;)

So along with Traders that give me 3 decent options. So no one was down with Jetty Lounge no? |

Re: Lunch Date
I think they do brunch. At least they used to. Not necessarily a full bling on brunch but something called brunch involving alcohol.
But I like Dubai Marine. Whatever you do, avoid Maria Bonita. Dire and overpriced Tex-Mex.
