My concern would be that forcing the family to take a child needing extra care home when they clearly do not want it would lead to abuse of the child. Do they have a procedure for putting a child up for adoption here?

I often wonder where all the disabled people are here as very rarely see anyone on a wheelchair or with clearly visible disabilities (and those I do are mostly westerners).

adoption is technically illegal, families can take in children (emirati) but they can't give them their family name or let them inherit (so I was told).

Thats a good point. Best not to pressure the parents take the child, unless they can be made to genuinely realize the galatic mistake they are making.

Only Emiratis can adopt? Can non GCC citizens adopt children and if so is it only limited to non GCC children?
