Krabi, thailand

Hello !
Have any of you been to Krabi in Thailand?
I am thinking about going there for Christmas and New Year.
Can you recommend areas / resorts?
I am not after bars etc. More like really nice surroundings, great beach and a little sightseeing.
Thank you

As a start for research I would look at the Lonely Planet guide;
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thailand...krabi-province
It all depends on your Budget and what you actually want to do.
Great place I can certainly recommend Ao Nang beach, or get out to the hundreds of islands in the area...certainly recommend going to see the Sea Gypsies at Koh Lanta Yai.
Literally you can just kick back and relax or travel around the islands snorkeling in the clear waters.
Making me jealous ( I was out in Thailand for a month last year).

Alexa, Xmas & New Year are really busy times, so if you are "thinking" about going, you need to start booking as soon as possible.
It's lovely.
Whilst I used to be an LP fan, it's gone all navel since the BBC bought it off the owners for US$210mln, and then quietly sold it last year to some random American for US$70mln (yay good use of BBC money!)...
Use Tripadvisor, check out the hotels you like the look of, and read the reviews with a pinch of salt.
