Default Keyed Cars

Noticed this morning that our family car has been keyed again which is the third time in 18 months. It's a pretty normal, not flash at all, family 4X4 with child seats in the back that Clark Griswald might like the look of but that's about it. There is no reason, even if you're mental, to look at it and think of damaging it. So why does it seem to happen so often here and why do people do it? I think it happened this time while we were parked at Dubai Festival City. Anyone else have the same problem....? Are the car washing guys a mafia organisation who wreak revenge on all those people who decline to have their car washed?

Motivation is probably jealousy, spite and envy.

There would be a lot of guys here who would love to be able to buy a family 4 X 4 and load it with their families for a spot of shopping in a ritzy mall. I know many of you carry on as though the "suburban Dad" life is just a form of torture but it's what many, many, many other people here can only aspire to.

Cheers mate, appreciate the tip.

Not sure about it always being spite and jealousy - some of the scratches look like kids work to me.

I admit to being sorely tempted to doing that to cars that think it's fine to park three inches from mine, thus necesitating limboing into the passenger side and climbing across.

I haven't. Yet.

Local yoof. I've found a few screws in my Jeep's tyres. Probably about one a year. As if they have been purposefully driven into the tread. Costs 50 dh a time to get screw taken out and tyre sealed.

Surprised you would even contemplate it Meow.

Get Mr. Meow to let the tyres down, much more annoying and nor really criminal....

The inside of my Pajero was utterly destroyed by some yoof who took the cylinder jack out of the boot and smashed the inside of my car with it. It was parked outside of a mosque. The bastards even smashed by CDs.

Admittedly the car had been rolled and was unlocked, but still... it was only left unattended for about 4 hours.

mine has been keyed as well, not sure where it happened though but I had been in MOE a few days before as it was on the passenger side I am not sure how long it had been there.

Mine has a key made design etched into the boot next to my number plate. Must be a foot sqyare of scribble.

I'd had it a week and it was parked in Sharjah nowhere near any other cars.

I was ****ing livid.

I don't do that but like Meow am sorely tempted. I try to keep calm but last week I left a note on a car that just said C U N T because of the parking attempt. I'm single handedly trying to educate all of my apartment block. Failing.
