Re: I'm thinking drink
Provided I get out of work on time, it's a yes from me. I'll have a better idea at lunchtime on Thursday.

Weasel - here was my little review of a couple of restaurants in Sana'a - you ever go to these places? I adore Salta, so good...
"In Sana'a you can eat at various places along the way with street vendors and little cafe type places. For a bit nicer you must go to the best restaurants in Sana'a (I think!) called Al Fahker and Al-Walima in Hadda and on Hadda Road - which is like Beach Road in Dubai in that Hadda Road is not the official name, but it get's called that - which is like a suburb (if you can call it that!) of Sana'a (about 20 mins in a cab).
Al Fahker is a fantastic authentic Yemeni restarant - the main dishes are roasted / barbequed chicken, meat and fish with rice - like a really fresh and lovely biriani with out the curry though. The national dish is called Salta - this is a dense and melt in the mouth spicy Lamb stew eaten with fresh huge bread (like a naan). It is AMAZING! We liked it so much we had to go back twice. The other one Al Walima is a Lebanese and looked really good."

I don't know these ones you mention, is it a while since you were here? I live just off Hadda Road so I am surprised I havent seen them.
I am walking distance from Al Diwan, Zorbas, Grill 101, Al Shibani and a few others all reasonable places. Al Diwan is the best of the lot very authentic yemeni food or western if you prefer.
I avoid the street vendors big time, its a one in four shot of food poisoning.
I know the one you mention but I have heard it called foad or foat here but its good stuff.
Call in next time you are in Sana'a I'll bring you around.

Why dont you try and arrange something on a national holiday? I think you would have more chance of folk turning up.
