I never expected this verdict.

Also the guy who was tail gating him had his kid on his knee, surely he should be arrested?

Emirates 24/7 had a briefer, more nuanced view of the verdict. The title alone...

Whoa... wait. They changed the title since this morning. Earlier it was something very close to 'Bird-flipping-Brit-doctor-acquitted.' Maybe they heard from a few readers?

I still don't see it - he is just a surgeon. He isn't a diplomat and he was in the safety of the UK already.
They didn't help out the UN guy last year who was on official business who did exactly the same thing.

Maybe it's just that nobody could prove the accusation, so he was let off. AS very good precedent for this kind of 'case'.
Is there actually a case where the accusation was proved, and the guy found guilty?

Shariah law does not believe in precendents. Each case stands alone.

What's sharia got to do with it? FYI we aren't in a sharia-law country.
Is there actually a case where the accusation was proved, and the guy found guilty? Or are we just worried over nothing?

Seven Seas is right. We live in a country whose laws are 'guided' by Sharia law, but we don't live under Sharia law. Two very different things, thankfully.
