Just as well that I didn't BS (too much) on my CV - for my first job interview in Dubai (I did get that job), I had my ex-boss from my previous company in India on the interview panel!! Then in my current job (2nd one in UAE), I again had an ex-colleague on the panel - jeez they seem to be following me everywhere.
Dubai is such a small place - I probably have ex-colleagues teeming every company here
PS: Just had a headhunter from London on the phone asking if I would be interested in joining a property development(!!!) company.

I prefer panel interviews - saves time and less tiring.
Last time, I had to meet 6 people one after the other and it was exhausting - lasted from 9-1 p.m. Would prefer to get them all in one room and get it over and done with.

It also shows the company cannot be bothered to really get to know the applicant (they just hope a group will pick up all the key points).
I had five interviews once (all on different days, unlike your unfortunate experience), then I said 'if you can't make up your mind now, I'll withdraw my application'.
They offered me the job about five minutes later.

my interview for my next job was at Costa coffee at Dubai Airport arrivals. last 20 minutes and was offered the job there and then. thats my kind of interview. 
and no it wasn't for a job serving coffee there!
