why not go on Christmas holiday 7 work days earlier than originally planned? f*** all he can do about it once you're gone.
but... to be fair, you not being able to take the leave was your problem rather than his.
one of those 50/50 situations. Can he sack you if you legally take all your legally entitled leave? Are you leaving the company anyway soon?
