How racist are you?
On a scale of 1 to 10.
10 being Nick Griffin
1 being Donald Trump ( - I couldn't think of anyone else and he did once say he was the least racist person on the planet)

Donald Trump the least racist person on the planet? So your scale goes from about 8 to 10 only then.

Perhaps a more relevant question might be: Have you become more racist since moving to the Middle East?

Depends what you mean by Racist. I think there are varying degrees of racism.
If I think that, on the whole Emiratis are bad drivers, I think that this is a different take than someone who takes the p1ss out of a Chinese waiter and mimics them, or someone who automatically presumes that people of a certain race are dirty or stupid.
I think.
I definitely have a different mindset about people than I did before moving out to the ME.

Oddly, I reckon I have become more accepting and less racist since coming here. That said, I do love a good sterotype : a spade is a spade and a pinoy is a maid and all that.

Here it's completely different, when I get a new client, one of the first things I ask what nationality they are, as I know from dealing with them what to possiblly expect, when I contact real estate agents and I tell them what the budget is, where they want to live etc, this is always followed by them asking what nationality are they...
When I tell people my maid is the best one there is (and she is), people always ask where is she from...
I find I have prejudice type feelings, oh it's a -whatever nationality- so it's going to be like this or like that....not sure if that makes me racist...

I have, purely because when I lived in Holland I had never anything to do with 'foreigners' so I didn't really give them much thought as they didn't play any part in my life...

For example, I'd say less than 10% of people from the subcontinent who I've come across in Dubai and have never been anywhere outside of India/Pakistan/Bangledesh/Sri Lanka before coming here have absolutely no idea how to queue properly.
Not all of them. Some do. But the vast majority of them seem to think horizontal queuing isn't actually a nasty way of saying that they have no idea how to queue, and a legitimate alternative to 'proper' queuing. Which it isn't.
Now that said, they are some of the hardest working people here, doing jobs that I don't think I could do myself, and managing to send most of their wages back home for their families. Could I do that – I very much doubt that.
So does my opinion that most have no idea to queue make me a racist? I hope not, seeing as other than that, I have a lot of respect for them.

Re: How racist are you?
Racism can either be what you think /your beliefs, particularly if they are negative, but also how you act - do you behave negatively towards someone purely because of the race.
If you express an observation about a race (eg the fact that indians nod their heads side to side rather than backwards and forwards) is that racist or should it cause offence?
I think that awareness of racism is important but I also think that we are generally over sensitive about certain aspects of it.

Guys guys guys - my thread, my rules. I don't want to read all this drivel about your personal definition of racism - just stick a number down and move on!
We should have a least a hand full of 9s from what I read on this board.

I'd agree with that idea. I think there's a difference between being racist through stereotyping and actually being able to point at something and make a factual comment.
For example, I'd say less than 10% of people from the subcontinent who I've come across in Dubai and have never been anywhere outside of India/Pakistan/Bangledesh/Sri Lanka before coming here have absolutely no idea how to queue properly.
