I mean if I was giving money to anyone and I knew that that money would definitely be used to buy something that will end up killing another human being, I would never give that money.
And young men or women will be young men or women anywhere in the world, it's just that in Saudi they aren't allowed to do anything coz there really aren't that many night clubs in Riyad or Jeddah are there? Given half a chance any young person would pretty much do whatever the norm is in that city man, give it a rest ffs! |

Interesting, I would say that the Islamic principles are more strictly observed by non-KSA folk. Especially when they are not in their home country. e.g. a Paki women generally follows her believes even without the social pressure of being in-country - the same cannot be said for a KSA woman. I take my point about Earthworms back - Earthworms generally have more use and consistent behavior no matter what soil you put them on. So what animal would your counterpart on the Saudi side associate you the British Christians with? Or do You honestly still believe that you are the angles of the human race!!! You have no proof what so ever that Saudi women would overwhelmingly behave differently when they were outside their country, and if there are some who behave likewise it does is not mean that this is the norm |

Re: The House of Saud
A few things I've noticed in my time in the ME, all of which has been spent in Saudi.
I find Saudis very friendly to me on the whole. Numerous times, strangers stop to have a chat, offer tea etc. One time in particular stands out for me. The clutch went completely on my car on the eastern ring road in Riyadh and i was left motionless in the middle of five lanes of traffic. So many people stopped everything to help. One guy went off to a shop to buy something he thought would help, another guy called up his brother who spoke English who was ready to direct his brother to help us in any way. The police came by to offer assistance. I am still very impressed by this, and my wife who is normally very critical of Saudis for various reasons due to her gender was too. Unfortunately, I have to wonder if the response would have been the same if I wasn't white. I've met so many Saudis where I've thought that they are more or less the same as me, fairly reasonable, open minded people. Whether this is just the people I meet or a reflection of the population as a whole I can't say. I find RS's comments about the women laughable. Only last weekend I was at a large party with a disco with many Saudi women, and other Arab women too, who were quite happy to be there and have a drink too. I would suggest that given the opportunity at least half of Saudis would do similar. I don't like to see people attacking all things Saudi, but on the other hand, when you see how hypocritical they can appear, it's easy to see why many do, but there has to be a separation of the people from the state when doing this. We're all much the same really. My last point comes from my wife. She was going back to her home country and there was a Saudi woman sitting next to her. The first thing the woman did was take off her abaya. They get talking and the woman was amazed that my wife thought Saudi was okay etc. Totally couldn't understand why anyone would willingly go there. That's only one woman but it does make you wonder. I've just moved to Buraydah so it will be interesting to see if my opinion remains the same. The people are okay, it's the system and the state that are wrong. Funnily enough, my wife and kids aren't in Saudi at the moment, but they can't wait to get back here! |

you sir are a baboon, nay, a baboon's bottom, nay a baboon's bottom's bulbous balloons!! and no (if I had any daughters) I wouldnt want them to go to a nightclub coz I dont go to night clubs myself, but I would let young kids be young kids and not shut them up in a cage so when and if they do get a chance at any type of freedom, they go completely nuts and over the top like most repressed kids do. A child is what his upbringing make him or her. Teach them to be responsible adults and give them some freedom and you would be surprised how well they behave. Repress them and shut them out and not communicate with them and they will turn to others (or other substances) for solace and comfort. Anyone can be a father, not everyone can be a parent. on the question of raising children, would you want ALL of your children to grow up cynical halfwits like you or just some? |

My daughter -- an intelligent and highly-trained professional, and a caring and responsible adult -- goes to nightclubs for fun, as she has done since she was in her late teens. She has a broad outlook on life, and knows a fool when she sees one. You'd be bitch-slapped in an instant if you stepped out of line. You need to stop wanking and get out of your fetid bedroom, and interact with people who have experience, wisdom, freedom of thought and something to give the world, rather than cloister yourself with narrow-minded bigots who view everything and everyone through the distorted hatred of a certain ideology. [In deference to many Muslims I know, I fully appreciate that many of them are able to see the wood for the trees, and are not stuck up their own arses like this dimwit.] |
Re: The House of Saud
I had many positive experiences in Saudi Arabia and very often was given help freely by Saudis who take seriously the idea of being a Good Samaritan. When broken down at the side of the road, I was offered help by Saudis - civilians and police. I cannot recollect much of that in the Yookay !
