i would imagine that he has been itching to get out there with the rest of his platoon...As he is a career officer, how can he expect any kind of respect if as soon as danger lurks, he is whisked away back to China Whites, Nazi uniform and smoking tabs...

Now the reason why he went in secret, obviously from a security point of view was necessary twofold,

Not to put his life at greater risk than required

but more importantly, not to put his men in any greater risk by having him there...

I love prince Harry....His army captain dad must be soo proud...

No i agree that it's good for him to be 'normal' and it's great that he's in the papers for doing his job, instead of dressing like Rommel or whatever he likes to do while I pay his wages .

But as a military 'feel-good factor human interest story' it does somewhat miss the point (i.e., apart from maintaining a strategic location for a future invasion of a neighbour, are we really pretending to be doing any favours for the Afghans).

Not unlike the Pte Jessica Lynch 'rescue', which in the UK generated (and not just from Grauniad types) a feeling that such pap was only possible from the Americans, and Brits were above all that jingoistic bllx and could see the real story. Not so, we're just the same
