Happy Days!

No - not the show...

The U.S. Masters is on from tomorrow!:D

Hoping fox sports (or showtime) sorts out their coverage though as the coverage of the par 3 tourney on now keeps pausing:frown:

Ah yes............ golf.

One of Bernard Manning's last jokes:

"Seventy years ago, 100 white men chasing one black man was called the Ku Klux Klan. Now it's called professional golf.............."

So, Tiger then................

Whilst it's a shame for his wife and family, I think this whole episode has made Tiger seem a little more human that the automaton he was before.

It'll be interesting to see how this affects his game over the next few days though, but he looks relaxed if anything. It'll also be interesting to see how he reacts on good/bad shots, as he's said he won't react as 'passionately' as before. Not sure if he used this particular word, but it seems to fit nicely.

I don't understand why atheletes shouldn't react passionately.

I agree, I like to see it - before Tiger there wasn't a huge amount of it in the golfing world.

Except when I play, but then it's usually frustration and temper tantrums.

Woods was always an obnoxious stroppy self-interested git..............

In a sport that once saw gentlemen like Nicklaus, Palmer, Player and Watson shine, he's an embarrassment. Did anyone else follow his whingeing round of petulance at Dubai about 3 years ago? :frown:

But all that apart, he seems to be quite handy with a golf club and ball?????

Don't think so... But great to see some of the other old timers doing well. Langer, Watson and Lyle on in the running. Don't see any of them winning but a great demonstration that power is not everything. Solid swing, good course managemnt and few years of experience all going to give a few of the youngsters a lesson....

And how great to see Couples at the top of the leader board, in my view one of the true nice guys of golf. And that swing, if Freddie was any more laid back he would be comatose.....

Good to see Westie and Poulter both doing well.

Tiger going well. Some great shots for some one that hasn't played competitive golf for 20 weeks..... Looking forward to tonights coverage....

Why?

They're just human. The number of people that know you doesn't change who you are.
Sure - being in the public eye would make you aware you might have to try to behave yourself, but this idolising musicians, sports people etc is the fault of the masses....and we don't even idolise them for their talent anymore...we follow their every move, their girlfriends / boyfriends, wives, kids, their arguments, break ups, fashion sense etc etc etc it's just nuts.

Being able to get a golf ball in a hole doesn't make you a role model as a person.

I would certainly prefer that.

To paraphrase Spiderman - with great fame comes great responsibility.

Bit harsh but sadly prophetic.... To be fair, not sure so much chocked more he just didn't press his advantage. Ho hum maybe next time.

Also WTF was going on the Tiger off the tee; hooks, slices, fat and thin, a calamatous montage of amateur mistakes ....

I am not a huge fan of Mikelson but got to admit FIGJAM did play some good golf. The chip at 12 was class and the shot off the pine needles at 13 was just amazing ..... After the year he has had it is hard to begrudge him the win....

........ yes - and his special guests at the event were the doctors and nurses who have been caring for his wife and his mum - nice touch.

Ah yes, but..............

With a more 'conventional' private life, might they have been even better than they were (or 'are', in KR's case)?

I don't know. They were/are both at the very pinnacle of achievement in their respective fields with little room for improvement. Surely their exploits are part of their very essence and indeed what make people like this more interesting to the masses . If every celeb was a goody-two-shoes, the papers and magazines would be extremely dull.

You had to be somewhat impressed with Tiger after going from 8 under to 5 under and then getting back to 11 under even with a missed tap-in......but we was garbage off the tee.

Westwood - he was always either going to play steady or poorly....couldn't see him lighting it up the way tiger / phil can.

I knew the English guys would fade under the emmense pressure..

I heard Tigers wife has finally decided to dump him after finding out he was visiting a 22 year old nieghbor girl..That was the last straw. Why can't wives understand that it's just sex..Tiger did'nt care for those other women. There's a difference between sex and love.

Sure is. Love makes the world go round, sex makes it go up and down.
