Besides you have to put this is socio-economic context. Traditionally, the wife stayed at home to look after house and children whilst the man was at work. He was therefore the one that built up assets. The situation can easily be reversed.

I think Guy Ritchie probably deserved every penny, she seems proper radio rental to me, and she didn't do his career any good with that bloody awful film.
And sometimes he must have had to wait ages for her to come in from work and put his tea on. Poor sod .

It shows how legally marriage is little more than a contract that can benefit the party who does no work for years then terminates it and get's half the assets the other poor sod has struggled to get.
Better ban it altogether if you ask me...completely unneeded in the 21st Century
