Gratuity and Multi Nationals

hope Meow is all over this like a rash

Multi national sends people to UAE on 2-3 contracts and their salary is split 50/50 host and home country with pension benefits etc intact at home

can they ask staff to sign a waiver to UAE gratuity ?

Hello! ;)

In short, possibly. It depends on the contracts and how they are worded. If appropriate alternate benefits are provided and staff agree to sign the waiver then it will be legally binding.

Just out of interest, what is a standard UAE gratuity at the end of a 2 year contract?

21 days pay for each year of service is the standard calculation, but there can be differences in fixed terms contracts.

Thanks for that. I assume if the contract is renewed after the 2 years, the gratuity continues to build up?:fingerscrossed:
