Be glad you dont live in the US
I cant believe that things have go so bad in America. Maybe they are so hungry because their portions are so big?

There are two nations in America - those with their freezers full of e-numbers and supersized calories, and the "invisible nation" sleeping in the streets. Guess which one was left on the streets of New Orleans to die when the hurricanes hit?

God we're in a judgemental mood today, aren't we? When you live your life without hope, it's all too easy to receive your sympathy from a needle or a bottle; if your ticket out of the ghetto is to peddle drugs or your body, you will do it if you have nothing to lose - such is the economy of destitution.

Outcome?
Americans will get slimmer, and Africans will no longer die of hunger.
Verdict?
Good news for everyone.

it was more a comment on the fallibility of statistics. The situation in the States is not great but many people have put themselves below the poverty line whilst others have done little to drag themselves above it.

Not true. Americans will start to eat each other. I saw it in a movie, and they never lie.

there may be *some* overlap but in general I think that's a different topic... though there are those like John Pilger who make a convincing case that the establishment is quite happy for the drug problem to continue as it keeps some elements of society in their place.

is Africa still starving? I mean malnutrition due to poor access, bad governance etc. yes but is there a genuine problem with overall lack of food?

I don't do African cannibal jokes, so I'm off to the Warbler for an all-day whore with breakfast (see "Bahrain Piss-Up" thread).........
