Am I allowed to pick a dead person? (Well I WOULD like to meet him, if it were possible).
It would have to be the great Duncan Edwards of Manchester United and England, tragically killed at the Munich air disaster in 1958 at the age of 21.
He'd already been an England international for four years, but the crash robbed us of seeing what he might have become (and from a World Cup perspective, he would still have only been 29 in 1966, and 33 in 1970).
I'm too young to have seen him play but my dad used to have some of those Super 8 reel-to-reel cine jobbies, and even on those you could see the pure class and elegance of the man.
For those who have never seen him, think Bobby Moore combined with Franz Beckenbauer.

I once had to escort Giant Haystacks out to his car when I was doing bar work as a student. he had been wrestling in the adjoined theatre and was worried about waiting outside for him. quite a big chap

My choice is poor as neither are sportsmen & 1 of them is dead..... Jeremy Clarkson & Winston Churchill. That would be an interesting night out

At Chelsea he was surrounded by better players that carried him, but it was only after he left there, that he couldn't hide. A truly overrated player.
