I was there today and the place is utterly fantastic - very impressive. Sure, it still looks like a building site in many parts, but it was mainly painting etc and landscaping activity that is being finished, from what I saw. The circuit and the Yas Marina Hotel are amazing. All credit to those who had a hand in it. And yes BB2, there are hardly any boats in the Marina.

yep hearing that there is a still a lot of landscaping etc to be done, but of course they will do what is necessary in the "public view" as well as all the "tidying up" at the corniche. its funny that they are painting all the new kerbs and marking out the crossings etc, wonder why, oh yes because they will be on telly. and what still no boats in there, wonder why that is.

You can hardly blame them...this is the first real global event for Abu Dhabi.

First impressions last.

no i am not, but it gets something like that to actually do something which should have been done anyway, like separating the right hand turning lanes, with more room for pedestrians and also traffic calming, which they defo need here.

although there is still a long way to go to make all the approaches to the circuit finished, just been up for a little drive, its still quite major and not just landscaping stuff. also they will have to do some major "repair" work to the new road and bridge as its not quite upto standard but of course they are "rushing things"

My God! Do you ever stop bitching & moaning about Abu Dhabi..How you have managed to live here for a million years is beyond belief!

I'm sure Shiekh Kalifa will be shitting his pants at the fact that your not happy with the decoration.

You should try a stint in Libya...when they have an official gathering they just build a mile long, 10ft wall to hide all the shite.
