Even the Unionists are getting tired.....
Even the staunch Unionists North of the Border are starting to get a little fed up of Westminsters apparent lack of interest in helping them solidify the union.. If nothing else, the contract for an oil refinery in the NE of England appears to fall right into the hands of the Nationalists.....
What was wrong with putting it in Scotland? Not close enough to the North Sea perhaps????

The fact that the English majority voted for a party which, per head, has a far larger proportion of Scots as opposed to the Tories (who may as well just give up north of border, thanks to Maggie.....!!!) is nothing to do with us...

Re: Even the Unionists are getting tired.....
What actually amazes me is, not the facts in the story, as I have known these for quite some time, as have many other Scots....
The amazing thing for me is that a known Unionist (McWhirter) writing for a Unionist paper, has decided to run the story......

While you have ANY kind of control over Scotland, its our right to have representation at Westminster.....

Re: Even the Unionists are getting tired.....
the over-representation I referred to was the number of parliamentary seats per capita in scotland (which is still too many despite being reduced from 72 to 59), as well as the fact that Scottish MP's are still allowed to vote on matters that are purely English. Otherwise known as the West Lothian Question.
The Treaty Of Union states that we cannot have less than 45 MPs at Westminster.... Darling cut that back after devolution from 72 to 59......
While an Englishman can vote on something that affects Scotland, I firmly believe that a Scotsman can vote on something that affects England.....
If you dont like it, repeal the act and problem solved......

Mind you, I did like the Lord Chancellors (Lord Irvine of Lairgs) answer to it back in the late 90's....
The best answer to the question is to stop asking it......

but Labour would not abolish this anomaly because without the support of their scottish MP's they would barely have a majority

Bollocks
There are and have been plenty of occasions where English MP's have voted on issues that affect Scotland and not England.
If you dont like it then form a bloody English independance party......you've got mine and almost half of all scots vote for that one.
As for soo many scots in westminster (not scottish seat mp's)....you voted for them?????
