Emirati boy racers in London

****wits

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...car-smash.html

Abdulla Saeed Khalfan Al-Dhaheri, 28, and Sultan Khalifa Al-Muhairbi, 35, both from the United Arab Emirates, were held after the smash in upmarket Lowndes Square, Knightsbridge, central London.

Residents there have complained about boy racers disturbing the peace at night.

Ouch- driving and crashing a Lambourghini with no insurance- now that is going to hurt!

Slightly off topic, I spotted a purple roller this week driving down SZR- seriously money does not buy you taste!

Also to be fair we do make quite a lot of high end cars in the UK. I mean McClaren, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Aston Martin, Bristol, Spyker, Ariel, Reynard, Farboud, Ginetta, TVR, Noble, AC...to name just a few! If people want to buy them, ruin them and the buy more given the current business environment you’d have to say it can only be a good thing to keep people in jobs :).

One of the few real industries we still have left.

Nope, new car in the works for TVR. Those companies are probably split about 50/50 between British ownership and others (Foreign, listed etc.) and regardless it keeps people in productive work :).

Let's see them locked up for a month and then deported from the UK...I'm sure The Sun will give its full backing.

I thought TVR was dead, too--so pleased it isn't. T350's gotta be one of the most delicious machines ever. Droooooooooooooollllllllllll.

I like the wedge shaped TVRs and later the Griffith variants.

That said there is nothing as sexy as pop up headlights:

Yeah, had an RX7 convertible with pop-up headlights. And now have, languishing unused in the garage, a Mk 1 MX5 -- taught 2 of my kids to drive in it. Really sweet.

And you have to remember the Darwinian evolution model is self enforcing, supercars just act as a catalyst.

The RX7 is an awesome car (only bettered by the RX8) - but an MX5 - what were you thinking!

On this point we shall just have to differ ...

Still, great car to learn to drive in, better than burning out the clutch in a fiesta.

I never had a fiesta - they were crap. What you wanted was a Nova - much lighter, or better still a Renault 5 Turbo.

even when I left the UK I still had a hot hatch.

I wrote off my Mk2 Renault Clio Williams:D
Inevitably the rotor tips failed on the RX7 (even though they said they'd cured the problem by that model); Mazda agreed to supply and fit a new engine, which they did but the car caught fire and was destroyed during the garage's test drive:(
I had a Boss Mustang (the actual pace car for the Indy 500) which was "stolen" and used in a bank robbery.
My Dutton Phaeton caught fire, but unfortunately wasn't destroyed--I was trying to sell it at the time. Dodgy wiring. Mine. :o

There have been others...

STUPID idiots (oops its Ramadan) ok silly little spoilt rich boys, rumour has it that one of them works in the police, if that is the case he has just lost his job for sure.

I just dont get the mentality of shipping a car to the UK for the price they pay to take it there they can hire something similar for the same price.

They used a Boss Mustang for a bank job in the UK! Hardly an inconspicuous car- was it LHD just to make overtaking that but more tricky.

I always wanted a wankel...

Yeah, LHD with big muck off decals on the bonnet and down the sides. And a puny petrol tank that would last less than 100 miles if I really played...

Wankel's a great engine, just a great pity that they never eked out the theoretical efficiency. Had mine up to 140mph on the A14...

The A14 is a nasty nasty road...

I was always amazed to see mopeds on it around the Cambridge area.
