Yeah, if you're lucky...

Actually, if you're lucky the package figure will be a 60/40 split.

If you work for a local firm or a shithouse then you're going to have it much worse than that.

REturn flight to Seychelles in July is 4,600dhs! It's four ******* hours!

<and a mate who resigned, was summarily terminated the next day and they're refusing to give his Eos. He's a lawyer as it happens, but it'll still be a pain.>

Nothing. If you can't take care of where you want your family to live yourself then you need a ****ing reality check, try reading my earlier post again.
The difference is that those on "total package" rather than "featherbed package" are often the ones that whine about paying school fees themselves, and flights home themselves and the cost of cola per can going up, and the landlord's put the rent up, and then casually reveal that he is on a 68k/mth total package

EoS benefits - no difference as all those "total packages" are not part of basic, but allowances.

I think everyone can be as bad as each other.

We're all here to make cash money so who really cares what the Jones' next door get each month or whatever?

Just been confirmed to me by one of the UAEs most prominent and experienced Talent Acquisition Specialists that this is indeed the floor salary and anyone not getting it needs to pack up and go home.

Slightly off topic...flying to South Africa next week, Emirates is full but got South African airlines flight on EK (I assume code sharing). Does anyone know if I'll get my Skywards miles?

I couldn't when I flew us airways to Manchester on a QR flight.

I'm not sure there is a way to be 'smart' and get EoS on full package unless you're in government or maybe a freezone. The labour contract for all us mortals splits everything down regardless (60 + 30 +10)....

Ah, but it doesn't.

EG: I placed a commercial guy, 57k ish. My fee (definitely not agreed by me, by my old director) was one month's basic, which made it 22k.

I wasn't worth working on, just like his EoS wasn't going to be worth much.

Yeah it probably happens that the worst companies out there (and there are many) make it 40 + 40 + 20 or something which obviously sucks massive hairy balls. How on earth would the new employee know that though until he has already started working and they finally get down to putting together his labour contract?

What I was referring to is that there is no way a company would ever consider your total package as all basic (unless they were stupid) so your argument in an earlier post that it actually makes fook all difference whether you get featherbed or all inclusive is completely valid...for most of us!

That was the point I was making though...

Anyway, he had breakdown of shit in the contract, his choice.

I assume most people pay into a pension or save money for the future regardless, so gratuity is a great bonus and maybe something most people don't factoring in / rely on etc.

Okay dude. Maybe I'm still half asleep..

Yep, if it's in the contract and you still sign then too bad. I guess most people don't understand the purpose of the split even if it is clearly mentioned though. It's all too common for people to get shafted on their first contract in the ME...
