Re: Emirates Air
As both Turkish and Gulf involve a 20hr plus return trip, they are definitely off the agenda. As for Bahtatboy's silly comment, you would use abbreviations too if you were getting Network Errors 75% of the time. It's so annoying having too rewrite your messages all the time.

Re: Emirates Air
Just went through their website to purchase 2 tickets for the wife and I, round trip, one way, to Los Angeles.
They were about 7,500 AED each.
They were the only airlines we could find that had a direct route from Dubai to LAX. Every other airline we searched through had 1+ destinations.
In the last couple of years, we've flown on Etihad, Delta, Singapore, Saudia, American, ANA, United, and KLM. Emirates was by far the most comfortable.
A one way flight is about 17 hours to LAX. Any stops and you're looking at a day or more.
The closest prices would have been 1 stop trips that would have been around 25+ hours and the price would have been about 6,500 AED.
We'd rather pay the extra 1,000 AED a piece in order to arrive faster and with more comfort/service.
As for their trips anywhere else... I dunno.
Last year we went from Saudi to Japan on Etihad and it was pretty good. The service was great and the plane was only 1/2 full. People we're laying up and down the aisle 2-3 seats to a person.

Re: Emirates Air
Emirates were by far the best for comfort and service, why turn a 7hour flight into a 20 hour endurance test?

Re: Emirates Air
Book earlier next time. We booked our July flights in January - 820 quid for 2 adults on Emirates. This includes about 60quid per person extra as we fly into London and out of Manchester

I always book from UK and therefore always have a return ticket with me. Booking from the UAE is expensive. I am usually back in UK every 3 - 4 months so it works for me. I have just looked at a UK site for the cheapest non stop flight from Dubai to London on Emirates in July and it's 655 GBP compared to London - Dubai at 455 GBP during the same period.

Not sure where you are flying to in UK but you could try Royal Brunei if it's Heathrow. I have flown with them and had no problems. It is a dry airline but plenty of people take their own!

Re: Emirates Air
They were quoting cheap prices on their website but, when you add the taxes and other charges, they were expensive too. Azerbaijan imvolves a 10 yr trip each way as the stop-over is only 2 hours unlike many other airlines.

Re: Emirates Air
You could try BA
EK's biz class fares to UK are insane at the moment AED25K!
I think it's because 80% of EK's traffic is transit from UK & Europe to the Far East and Oz so they are pricing us out of their planes to leave availability for this.
Also depends on season - EK was at AED 3100 for some time then up to 3400 when fuel surcharges hit.

Re: Emirates Air
Because they can. The prices wouldn't be so high if no one were buying the tickets.
I usually fly British Airways if I'm paying, but if the company is its Emirates and I suspect that most people's annual tickets are on Emirates.
Emirates tickets eastwards aren't that bad. Prices for flights to India are fairly cheapish and Emirates had the most competitive prices when I flew to Singapore last year.
Note: BA isn't as cheap this year as it was in the past.

Etihad Airways in July is 4275 for economy and 18,000 for business - I am biased though

Our flight costs are reimbursed by my employers too but I don't want my boss paying more than necessary. We have booked with Azerbaijan at Dhs2,400 each, not only because of the price but also the convenient time schedule.
