What's so effin special about the Yorkshire dialect? I much prefer the Norfolk and Zummerzet ones.

Vet: "Is it a tom?"

:)

If Geoffrey had played cricket the way he talked he would’ve had people queuing up to get into the ground instead of queuing up to leave.
-----Fred Trueman, on Geoffrey Boycott’s TV analysis of England’s failings in India, 1983.

The only fellow I’ve met who fell in love with himself at a young age and has remained faithful ever since.
---Dennis Lillee, on Geoffrey Boycott, 1997.

I know why he’s bought a house by the sea… so he’ll be able to go for a walk on the water.
----Fred Trueman, heading for 30 years of anti-Boycott jokes, as Geoffrey left his beloved Yorkshire for a new home overlooking Poole Harbour, 1997.

Pedant alert: There are numerous variations in how people speak across Yorkshire. A Hull ('ull) accent is different from a Sheffield one for example.

I also think you have rather missed the point of the thread.

Just you luv, just you.

The posts have been gently taking the piss out if a Yorkshire accent, not saying it's the best. This isn't a competition.

Various relations of mine who live in Sheffield always pronounce it "SEFFELD "

It has been pointed out to me by the Northern relatives that a Yorkshireman endorsing his enthusiasm for Trebor Extra Stong Mints might just have an alterior motive in mind....
'E ba gum, Trebor'...spelt backwards, we get Robert Mugabe....and there was me thinking Ad men were incapable of understanding the finer points of cynicism!:D
