Moving out to Dubai myself in 11 days or so - done business there plenty but never lived there... Working for US based company and not in real estate (previous life...). Biggest headache has been around banking which I guess has been discussed here plenty... Any pointers on moving my hard earned AEDs to the Uk much appreciated (to pay Uk bills while immediate family sit out my probation period...). Well, Im with the HSBC both here and in the UK. Easy-peasy to send money back, have a SO set up that wheechs the money into the UK in the blink of an eye and no charges....

The exchange rate I get is pretty good, no charge for the transfer, arrives in the UK in a couple of days...

Dunno about offshore, as I told them to get stuffed and closed my accounts when they started wanting to charge for the privilige of having an account in Jersey
