"A tiny, filthy, badly ventilated room with dirty mattresses on the floor is the last place those infected with contagious diseases will see before they are deported."

""We have instructions from police to lock up expatriate patients.

"We are instructed also not to inform them about their illness," said an official at Al Baraha hospital."

Clinics rarely notify cases of infectious diseases - official

"
"But they do not report cases of tuberculosis. Most of these cases are reported by the government healthcare providers. It is very rare that private clinics and hospitals notify us of TB.

"If we know of a TB case, we call all the people living with the patient or who are in contact with him or her. We screen them for the disease, and this helps us control the disease."

He speculated that private hospitals do not report the diseases to the ministry because they do not want to lose profits they make from patients. "

i wonder why they dont report it really?

I understand that employers are told NOT to tell potential employees of the specific health reason why someone's visa is being declined and they are being sent home.

I know someone who had a case with an Indian chap who was found to be HIV positive. He was sent away without a word; presumably to spread the infection and not get any treatment.

It's utterly perverse.
