Yes, I went a few times. It was ace being able to go back later just by showing the wristband they gave you.

Now I remember why I left Dubai heavier than when I arrived.

This weeks time out has a feature on brunches, and every week there is a section that breaks brunches down into price categories.
I have done Centro Barsha, the food isn't bad, typical rotana food to be honest, but it is good value for money

I think Thyme Restaurant has a cheap one as well

Did the Amwaj Rotana recently with workmates through living social. 149 each but if 3 others bought through your link you got it free. Food was very nice and no problem with drink, although the fizzy was pink :-)

So Dusit Thani it was.

Food: 8/10
Highlights: Spicy soup (can never remember its name); Thai noodles and beef; sushi and sashimi (very fresh); crab; big range of salad
Could be improved: Leg of lamb was a bit tough (although one of our party tried it early in the lunch and his was good); cheese selection was poor (if you're going to do it, do it properly)

Drink: 8/10
Highlights: Thai beer, Lindeman's wines
Could be improved: White wine wasn't always cold enough; no spirits; wine was either "white" or "red", no options among them (although the wine was good, and not complaining at this price)

Ambiance: 9/10
Highlights: Well laid-out food stations; good atmosphere in the main area; no blaring music
Could be improved: Non-main areas a bit dead, although would be excellent if you wanted a quiet table to chat at.

Service: 10/10
Attentive, discreet, charming

Value: 9/10
Went for the basic alcoholic package: AED 215 with beer, wine and soft drinks. There was a cheaper package with no booze, and two more expensive ones with either sparkling wine or champagne.
Timing was 12-4, with last drinks served at 3:30.

Would I Go Back: Undoubtedly, but I'd try to get a table nearer the action unless I wanted to be hidden away.

Just back from Friday Evening Brunch (lunchtime leaves me wasted for the day) at Ibn Buttuta Gate hotel. Unlimited food (called Surf & Turf) and house beverages, inc bubbly. 7 - 11 with entertainment at 8 (live singer). I thought it excellent value in a lovely hotel with excellent staff and all for the princely sum of 229 Dhm but there's a 2 4 1 offer until end of Sept through Entertainer online. 115 for all you can eat & drink, Burp!

That sounds awesome

Thanks for sharing. I don't really like Friday brunches either but 7-11 is a bit better.

I was very impressed and even at the 'usual' price of 229 it's a bargain. Bit of a write up here (although the timings are wrong, starts at 7, actually before then because I arrived early and they gave me a glass of bubbly while I was waiting for my friends).
Sign in to the entertainer online for access to some trial offers, one of which is the Surf 'n Turf 2 4 1 http://www.theentertainerme.com/latest-offers/trial/

You don't have pre-brunch drinks at home or at somewhere like Dubliners first?

Dubliners is bloody miles from Ibn Battuta Gate! We stick to our usual Dhs69 buffet lunch on Fridays. No alcohol but I'm usually shopping and driving too.

I've never been to Ibn Battuta gate, and you're correct, it's miles....from anywhere.

I suggest not driving, not shopping and focusing on the beer.

Avoid Nelson's during football on Saturdays - West Ham fans have recently moved in. Trouble virtually guaranteed within a week or two...........
