Default Drone attacks

Big drone attacks over the weekend on KSA oil facilities. Houthis claimed credit but most likely they couldn't have launched the drones as it's too far away. Leaving the following options:

1. Iran did it, from a base in Iran
2. Iran did it, from a base in Iraq
3. The Saudis did it, from a base in Saudi

Regardless of which option... it's not a great event.

A Drone can be launched from anywhere and sent anywhere..unless you can shoot it down or identify some kind of hardware from the attack it will be difficult to identify the culprit.

There are very many Shia in the Eastern Province of KSA.. Hofuf and Qatif are almost entirely Shia.

Definitely this. The American response is typically reserved though.

Just wondering how and when the Saudi's will seek retribution? Can't imagine they will sit back and do nothing about the bombings a few days ago, would expect them to up the ante down in Yemen. Could all get a bit interesting.

I was told this morning it's now suspected it was a cruise missile, not a drone strike. Anyone else read / heard? Not had a poke around yet.

The problem in all this is that a drone has a smaller attack range (200km max) - if it was anything other than a drone - what happened to the air defense and monitoring ?

If its a cruise or other form of missile - i didnt think the Houthis had that sort of technology (unless they have been upgraded) - then its going to be time to batten down the hatches and get that tin hat ready for some fireworks

It could be a drone. The Americans have drones that can stay up for days so I doubt Iran/Russia/China will be far behind that range. When the Americans do their "surgical strikes" into other territories, the drone often takes off 500-1000km away.

Maybe this is why the Americans are so sure in claiming it’s Iran. Anything other than a drone would be quite easy to detect either at the time or post event. These are highly monitored and recorded parts of the world.

We might be getting fireworks before 5th November this year.
