Default Re: DEWA

it's all "explained" in 7 days this morning.

Due to the high price of oil, the surcharge has increased. When oil comes down in price the surcharge will come down - accoding to the paper.

However, back in the real world; the price of oil has dropped considerably from May to June. Maybe it's inversely proportional to change in the price of oil or more likley just another half-baked excuse for charging what the h*ll they like.

Oil is around 90$ now, yet few days back analysts backing a price increase were saying price of oil wouldnt go below 100$ in the "foreseeable future".

When prices are high, you will be charged high

When prices are low, you may be told that "sorry, we purchased oil when it was its highest rate 4 months back so you will be charged high"

My bill is usually 230 (as I'm not actually living there often, so it's only the fridge that's taking electricity).

In June, it was 220.

The big bills have nothing to do with the surcharge.

The surcharge went from 6.2 fills to 7 fills. This is hardly a big increase - especially when it is added to the 28fills of the base cost. The all in cost has therefore gone from 34.2 fills to 35fills per kwh.

A 2% increase.

The 50% increases people are seeing are something else - wrong meter readings, estimates or DEWA playing games. For some reason, according to my bill we consumed no water at all last month.
