Now then, I know Disco Gardens has a bad rep, but when we moved in to a 1,000 sq foot one bed place it was AED 55k, then after a year dropped to AED48k and now there's some new places across the road, balconies and underground parking so I think people want to go there now - so we got a call from wasl offering us AED 33k a year with a 13th month for free, all for 4 cheques.
Where we are (street 11) it's quite as a mouse. Mainly indian families, little kids everywhere but there is pretty much no noise whatsoever.
As mentioned earlier we have lovely furniture and are pretty settled there, so 33k a year is a brilliant deal.
Just so you know anyone who is looking, Disco is always an option.
Also now we are saving a lot more we've decided to pay off £12k for the next year off our mortgage, which is what we should have been doing originally.
(See I'm not all trainers and sambuca)

That rent is cheaper than UK! Wow rents have really come down - we used to pay 40K for a nice one bedder in 1992.

In 26 years in Dubai think I have been quite lucky. First 18 years spent in a 3 bed villa, near the Trade Centre, where rent crept up from 35k - 47K. Then 8 years in a Jebel Ali 2 bed apartment which began creeping but more recently accelerated to 50K, the most I have ever paid!!

Abu Dhabi is still a major rip off - the local landlord cartel are raking it in.

A little confused, Spugsy. Is 33K for your place or for the ones across the road? Are there buses from IBN Metro to DISCO or do you need taxis?
