And just because you buy a passport, doesn't make you a citizen. Actually paying taxes might help redeem him in the eyes of US citizens.

Actually no. It's a really great country, and they accept all sorts into its society. You are not required to give up your original citizenship (from over 100 countries) and can maintain dual nationalities.
I may be a JAFA now, but my heart (and my rugby alliances) will always be in New Zealand.

PS - I think Australia is possibly the warmest, most fun, most tolerant place on earth, and I love its people. I had no need to become a citizen, as a kiwi I was entitled to be there freely; I just wanted to because its a great place.
