Clarkson in this morning's ST.........
.......... I know how he feels...........
With its combination of V10 Lamborghini power, German quality, sublime handling and ease of use, the Audi R8 V10 is an extraordinarily good car. I drove one back in the summer and reckoned that in every measurable way, it was the best car in the world.
It’s not as complete, obviously, as a Bugatti Veyron, and it’s not as hot-headed as a Lamborghini Gallardo. But if you take price, quality, fire, speed, looks, economy, grip and handling into account, it scores an almost consistent row of tens.
There’s a problem, though. When reviewing a car I look for Jedward rather than that toothy midget that ultimately won The X Factor. I look for the certain special something that makes oysters wonderful and prawns less so. And that’s what the Audi’s missing; something you can’t imagine or explain. I suppose, in human terms, what it’s missing is a soul.
It’s a bit like Dubai. Yes, there is a sea and sand and providing you don’t play hide the sausage with someone’s else’s wife, you will have a nice time. And yet I’d rather go on holiday in Wakefield. Why? Dunno. Can’t explain it. Call it chemistry, if you like, but I just would.

Clarkson ,blunt as usual , and thats a good thing. Got to give him credit for not shying away from unflattering talk of Dubai, when maybee others might be concerned about being invited back and wined & dined. I suppose Clarkson is famous and rich enough that he doesn't care about this.

Some ugly humanoid with hyper-mandible syndrome w*nking on about how Lamborghinis are different to Bugattis. Reminds me of some teenaged zitface comparing the performance of his mythical conquests in bed (blondes vs. redheads etc). Why should we listen to anyone narrating their wet dreams? OK I can think of a few reasons. Why should we listen to this assface's wet dreams?
Once an overgrown mulleted ****, always an overgrown mulleted ****.
Funny how he never noticed Dubai's lack of soul till after he got booted out and was told never to show his face here again.
I could have told them he was a wankstain for nothing.

I liked him and his journalistic schtick back in the 1990s , but like anything it got overdone and tired after awhile.

I do find it rather daft that people get so het up about Clarkson's articles as he writes to cause a reaction, no matter what he really thinks. He is hardly a political columnist.

Oh I'm sure his bluntness is calculated to an extent. He knows he is gona ruffle feathers and delights in doing so. I ain't bothered by his comments, it is amusing, some things are just meant to be laughed at and not taken too seriously. I'm a gearhead and I watched Top Gear for the car stuff, Clarkson was just entertaining the way he delivered the analysis.

People not watching it? Nonsense. Who is this 'they you refer to? Top Gear is still hugely popular and sold around the world.
