I am just going to wait until I get a new iPhone before investigating into iPhone photography so I will get back to you then.

Meow I had one which was just the food but it wasn't as good as this one.

You misunderstand. Food photography is about the setting, placement etc but the food must be in focus. Taking snaps of food rarely gives good results as the lighting is so important (as is getting the food in focus ). Food photography is very specialised and the experts make a very good living out of getting it right. This is one of the reasons I don't think photos are needed in decent food reviews as they are rarely good. Food reviews should be about the writing. If that's any good, snaps are not required - see the writings of Fay Machler, AA Gill, Giles Coren etc.

I tried a hotel cooked dinner once, but wouldn't do it again, as the veg were not great. Cooking Xmas dinner is just a bigger roast dinner so not that hard. If you don't want to cook a turkey you can just order that in or if you don't want a full turkey you can order a crown from some places and cook that in far less time.

I know but when I did reviews with no pics people asked for pics, but like you have said before they are probably the ones used to ordering from plastic menu's too. Either way I am enjoying learning a bit more about photography, keeps me occupied. The lighting is always an issue that is the main reason I don't do evening reviews, no light.

I have had two recommendations for Christmas takeaways, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Emirates Golf Club.

I, for one, cannot wait to read Blue Cat's iPhoto diary of dinner reviews.

It is very hard to photo a big mac.

since veg is probably the easiest bit i'd suggest ordering a turkey only and doing the veg yourself
seconded.

JBH Turkey for the past 3 years has been fine (you need to collect it though as they don't deliver). Cranberry sauce & gravy, fine. Veg truly awful. Pigs in blankets - non-pork sausages and non-pork bacon.

Prior to that we tried the Montgomerie golf club - similar price and quality although you get a better box from JBH to carry it in.

Isn't part of the joy of Christmas cooking the dinner? I love that bit.

And non-pork pigs in blankets. WTF.

Do you do the cooking Millhouse?

I tend to cook for a number of people and it is a fair bit of work, but not too bad if you plan ahead so you don't get stuck in a hot kitchen for hours on end, missing out on the fun.

No pigs in blankets = not Christmas. I also refuse to accept packet stuffing or gravy from a jar.

Of course. There was a time when I did 90% of the cooking at home, now it's probably about 2% as Mini eats so early the dinner is done by the time I get home.

I'm actually quite a good cook - a product of a broken home and cooking for yourself from the age of 13.

It's the best part of Christmas for me. Spending hours in the kitchen with the mater helping her make all the brilliant American cookies plus the pudding and Christmas cakes. Then the leisurely Christmas Eve as we prep the roast and the supper. It's cold and dark outside, the kitchen is warm and groaning with delicious food and the booze is flowing, and it's not even supper yet. I can live without presents but not the food prep.

We got it from Emirates towers 2 years ago, utterly MASSIVE turkey and tons of veg. Veg and gravy was ok but I did my own, the turkey was the most tender, succulent turkey I've ever had and it lasted forever.

AED 500 is a lot but I loved it, would go back to them again if I wanted one.
