I thought it was 'eat a little bit so that you can drink all you can'. Clearly that is where I have been going wrong.

No. This is the correct procedure.

Eat a plate of light stuff, eat a plate of meat. Finish.

Don't sit around for the first 20 minutes making polite conversation, ask for as much booze as possible and get plate number one out the way.

Then, focus on drinking and smoking.

I'm the same. Night of champers drinking = me awake at 3am in agony.

Try Nexium from pharmacy - one before going out and no issues at all.

If I stay on bubbly I am fine, I can drink wine with dinner but if it is a long brunch then I stick to bubbly.
