Re: Cape Town
Never been to SA but would love to go.
My mate went last year and did a tour through SA & Africa with Safaris etc. He also did the shark cage diving thing in SA somewhere.... Could be an experience...

Make sure you visit Robben island if its still open - I went about 7 years ago and swear you could actually feel the inmates (Including Mr Mandela) walking around with you. Genuinely moving, and very interesting. If I remember right, the guide had actually spent many years there as a political prisoner himself.

You also, are 100% correct. I love a spreadsheet. I've got one that contains everything from work figures to my monthly budgets, the savings budget, more work stuff, dice (in case anything random needs rolling for), a list of golf courses here (plus their phone numbers, whether they accept Entertainer and rough costs - people always ask re; entertainer etc and I forget), Christmas presents (in case ideas come to me mid-year and so I can budget it), my share investments, a time zone sheet as I'm working coast-coast in the US as well as Aus etc, a few non-critical passwords too and more...but I sound boring enough as it is.
I couldn't live without it.

Re: Cape Town
So a from who has family in the area suggested:
There is great mountain biking, a trip up Table Mountain with the cable car, or a visit to the Stellenbosch winelands. South Africa has the best wines in the world and the wine areas are certainly the most beautiful winelands in the world. The Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are alos out of this world!.

Re: Cape Town
No, but I have a process.
I write everything down on a bit of paper.
Each item gets ticked when it's put on the bed.
Each item gets crossed out when it's put in the case.
Simple, smart, effective. Never forget anything.

Re: Cape Town
I generally wouldn't forget something. To show how anal I am, my A4 page (if required) is split.
It has the days and dates at the top and therefore how many nights.
On the left side of the page is listed clothes and their required number.
The right side at the top is washbag items / medical stuff.
Below that on the right is extras - cameras / passport / chargers / mac etc.
Bottom left is shoes.
I literally couldn't be more boring when it comes to packing and stuff. Don't get me wrong, if I'm flying at 0300 I'll be doing this at 10 or 11pm the night I fly.
