If she holds a vote and dares them to vote against , it will pass without a shadow.

I'm sourly noticing that the two lead claimants used to bring the lawsuit to court are clearly of non-native British heritage.

Whatever you think of it, it surely holds an element of irony.

You are probably right. There's a lot of passion being stirred today, on both sides. But after a few days cooler heads will prevail, hopefully. Parliament, including many Labour MPs from constituencies that voted to leave by big margins, knows how damaging a GE that's nothing more than Brexit referendum part II would be to the country.

The government already announced it will appeal. We'll probably know for sure in December following the Supreme Court's rulings. The tricky step, however, remains the HOL if the SC rules in favour of the claimant.

Both sides made questionable assumptions and misrepresentations, but by any measure Leave told by far the greater number of outright calculated lies. And so many of them were so easily disprovable, but when you pointed that out, so many Leave voters basically stuck their fingers in their ears and said "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU".

The Leave vote was able to leverage all kinds of bullshit, like "if we don't vote Leave on Thursday then on Friday Turkey is going to join the EU and they're all coming to the UK to take your jobs, houses and benefits", the EU army myth, and of course the £350m a week for the NHS. Plus of course the whole "Brexit will be painless and the UK is so important to the EU that they will bend over backwards to give us absolutely everything we demand". And it worked with enough people to scrape them a win.

You're an intelligent guy, you understand completely that Leave lied its way to a win using appeals to the voters' ignorance and prejudices, and presumably you're cool with that because it gave you the result you wanted. But because you're an intelligent guy, you can't possibly try and pretend that it was some kind of six-of-one-half-a-dozen-of-the-other situation, because you know just how big Leave's lies were.

Never heard that once from anyone on the Leave side. Have you a link to someone saying that? From the leavers I have talked to it was accepted that there would be a period of pain and it was a price worth paying to leave the EU.

And 16 million voted to stay. The margin of victory was 3.8%. In psephological terms, that's actually an awful lot smaller than a scrape.

Why else do you think Farage stated back in May that only a two-thirds majority would be definitive and that if the result was 52-48 in favour of Remain, that would be "unfinished business by a long way"?

Yes i agree with that but it's done now . The people have had their say and their wishes must be carried out .

Direct democracy is a wonderful thing , the Swiss seem to get on with the process fine . Name a swiss politician !

The funny thing is... If you look back at US elections - a county of 300m people. With around 120m votes cast ... The majority of the elections over the last 16 years were won with majorities of around 3m people.

We are 60m people and got a 1.5m majority. On your definition of a scrape it means even the apparent landslide elections are scrapes.

Landslides are created by colleague systems. Not actual votes cast. When you go down the road of counting votes it's always closer.

Brexit was close - but it was not a scrape by historical standards by any means.

That Chart is woefully incorrect. Coventry is more like 70% Asian. Google Folsehill, Stoke Aldermoor

In the post-WW2 period the area acquired a large ethnic minority population. It is now the only one of the 18 wards in Coventry where non-whites form a majority of the population (at the 2001 census); they are mainly South Asian Muslims and Sikhs.

A cabinit minister said, this morning on the BBC, that it may take another 6 months to formulate a plan, and will need some 3000 extra civil servants to do all the work needed.

I'm not surprised there's not much a plan for Brexit.

How about we just drag it out, say, forever?
