I'd say a visit to Alnwick at the Castle is needed, as is Kielder for some outdoor stuff (in the rain no doubt), I love the unspoilt beauty of Sweethope Lough, that area between the A696 and A68 is brilliant.

Add to the mix Dunstanburgh, Warkworth and Bamburgh Castles, the Farne Islands, Holy Island (buy mead), and you really can't beat the county at all.

Enjoy, it's a wonderful place.

Sounds great. Slightly less so when you describe an area between two A-roads though! Hahah
