The list is long already, but 'Western calendar' and 'answering the phone in English' can now be added to it................

Good for them (past caring)
On another note and one for urban myth an acquaintance got stopped at kkia on his return from dubai with two 500mm water bottles filled with vodka.
He paid 80 sr per bottle as a fine and was sent on his way half hour later. Apparently the locals are always getting caught coming in pissed or with alcohol.

Should be interesting...those poor expats may think they were supposed to come to work 700 years ago.... or so

They are moving forwards and not backwards, case in point; Saudi Arabia wants to replace Greenwich Mean Time with Mecca Time. Though I don't know just how much support there is within KSA for Hammer Time err I mean Mecca Time

to be honest this is probably a good thing. having two calendars is bloody confusing especially since it was always the hijri which counts anyway....

I go by light and dark anyway - i'm a simple beast - daylight is for working and eating, darkness is for sleeping...

Re: Banned in Saudi............
the two are easily converted between anyway so it should make much of a difference. they will just let the client choose which calendar to use. in terms of time someone already said UTC..
The objective to replace GMT with Mecca time is megalomania KSA style and should be widely disregarded.
