Ayman maliki's paintings

Re: Ayman maliki's paintings
Oo an art thread :-) isn't this a bit intellectual for this site?
Personally I am a fan of comtemporary art compared to the classics, art installations, print work, illustration and typography as well as photography and fashion (yes it counts as art) are my main interests and i love a good nude- I always used to do life drawing classes but there don't seem to be any here...
I was surprised by some of the art available in Lebanon, loads of local artists producing some beautiful work, as for the OP images shown- I'd say they are pretty much crap, reproduced for the masses, cheap knock it out and sell it cheap, painted with no passion or motivation other than making money, but if it evokes an emotional responce to the voyeur its doing its job- just not for me.

Bahtatboy- Characterful faces are far more interesting to paint than beautiful people Kind of the opposite to fashion photography

bahtatboy- depends on how you look at it....I think his work is beautiful, I'm generally not looking at art for a beautiful subject thats gonna turn me on sexually, that is what porn is for. I like fine art that shows the rawness of the subject, that shows depth and interest in each brush stroke.

OH NO Bahtatboy- you can't compare photography against a painting- two very different mediums- it's like comparing a scuplture to a 3 d film- I refuse to even look at them in the same context.

Really? I'd compare my etch-a-sketch masterpieces to Freud's.

3rd world countries like Pakistan , GCC or Indonesia etc.. will resist separating religion from government because there are too many pathetic males with insecurity issues who fear losing control over the females if religion was downgraded in influence.
Now back to the paintings.
I think they show quite a bit of talent to be able to mimic a photograph, as in the case of the girl in the 1st painting.

Organized influential religion, is just a vehicle for tribalism/ethnic supremacy and patriarchal domination. What people in relatively free countries should do is not allow people to get away with using religion to push for special consideration or to squash criticism.
