Atlantis to be sold ...

Well, you're right. Nassau isn't Sharjah. Nonetheless it's still the least attractive part of the Bahamas and for the real island magic, not overdeveloped mass tourism, you're better off heading for the outer islands like the Abacos.
I'll grant you that the water is probably 'nicer' at the Bahamas Atlantis but the Dubai Atlantis probably gives you a greater range of non-water activities and a city to explore, which one can't say about Nassau.

Personally for me a holiday is one where I can share a room with my girlfriend, walk to a beach bar and enjoy a cocktail for $5, Get a good table in a bar because I was there 1st, Lose some money playing blackjack maybe even have a midnight skinny dip all without worrying about being Jailed.
Besides, all the fat Americans make me look skinny and the water is free from 1,000,000 gallons of aftershave and tanning oil.

Fair enough. I can't disagree with you.
Though that is of course irrelevant as I stated I thought Atlantis Bahamas was amazing as a resort - Not what you can and cannot do around the Bahamas.

A young whale shark that they illegally caught which then died. They claim he was released but there were no pictures of this, a very un-Dubai way of doing things.

Although, I saw the parade along Emaar Boulevard (or whatever it's called now) at the weekend, because I got stuck in the mall and getting out looked like it was going to take a lifetime.....but anyway...the good bit was that two or three of the largest crowds were for young kids doing good stuff and the big Downs Syndrome / Special Needs charities. The crowd around us burst into spontaneous applause at each of the disable charity groups going by. At first I couldn't work out if that was patronising or not but it was a nice thing for the parade to have such a big focus on some of the charities.

How tragic. This place does some things very well and some things like this very, very badly.
