brief review:-

hotel:-

interesting location at the end of a man made island palm.
dodgy architecture and the central "thing" made of glass is hmmm...
hotel staff appear to be a bit soft in the head / unsure what to do
the hotel seems to be a bit under prepared for guests in general

dinner @ Nobu:-

one of the best dining experiences in Dubai
food - outstanding. especially the cold courses inc. togo tartare with caviar, the new style sashimi, the south american raw scallops with chilli and the fantastic black cod in miso. the one not so great course was the beef....
the desserts (I don't normally...) were great. the cheese cake was so light and the chocolate bento a stunner....
some great (read - excellent) staff from US Nobu's with 5 years plus experience. not one ma'am-sir or culture of No in sight....
good looking restaurant
bit packed in, but low noise pollution

use Safe Driver to get home - like scooter man in UK, guy drives you home in your own car...

meal for 2 with bells on, inc cocktails, bottle of wine, apertifs, food etc came to a reasonable 1400dhs (sorry, it did seem reasonable)

not sure why Northern got a 110dhs glass of vino in Locatellis?

Not sure about Atlantis, but maybe the eateries are up to scratch....

It's not cheap - however it's also by no means the most expensive place on the planet or even in Dubai.

No - I'm not totally minted (and seeing what others on here post about their packages, no where near on what some claim to earn) - though I do love good food and it was my birthday and 100GBP per head is not completely insane...

Anyways - I've nothing against foodcourts per se - just not on my birthday thanks!

aw well then, its must be ok if someone else spent double that...

im not knocking it, i just think its a bit OTT.

i was not having a dig at auto, in my opinion that is a lot to spend on a meal for 2.

The only time i would consider that is when its on expenses

or a special occasion and you're well into your food?

I've spent that 2 or 3 times in my life, and all those times it was amazing.

Friends got never got charged for there stay there due to the problems so quite happy...although 110dh for a glass of house wine in Locatellis seemed a bit excessive.
Did / do you have to book in advance or can you just turn up and pay on the gate like Wild Wadi ? I have visitors over and both want a day out there !

Also my sister has heard you can swim with Dolphins there (?), is that right ? If so, same question, can you book in advance, or pay on the day ?
