Default Another help me do my job cry - Contractors

Folks,

Need some help - I have a single loading dock that is too low to be of practical use. The easiest approach seems to be to lower the road leading to the dock, to do this ie need some-one to lift the brick road surface, dig out the substrate (about 450mm only), re-lay the brick work road surface and provide safety guards etc around the dropped area. I also need some-one who can also take it through the Zoning / Free Zone approvals process (drawings, submissions etc etc).

Any ideas on who'd he best people would be to do this. Should I be looking at civil contractors and if so any recommendations or should I be looking at larger landscaping companies and and again if so any suggestions.... Or finally is there another option I am completely missing

Sorry to ask but this is a little outside my field of expertise and I was hoping some of you lot may have some thoughts....

Not sure if its applicable to your case but I have installed some kind of mechanical or adjustable dock leveller type things before on some facilities.

Basically it was some kind of arm thing, with a floor and hydraulics that can move up or down to suit the height of the trucks behind. It might save on having to dig anything plus might not need approvals. I am not sure how you loading bay is set up but it might work.

let me go look for a website

Perhaps this isn't as technical as I initially thought!

Thank Weasel.

There is already one fitted however even fully extended it is still not high enough for most container vehicles and when it meets the height requirement the angle is such that a) its dangerous for the forklift to use and b) using it at that angle is damaging the forlift motor...

It is also a raised dock so I can't extend the leveller to make a shallower angle as don't have the space. And all of this is how we ended up looking at dropping the road surface, ie bring the back of the vehicle closer to the ramp height

Do appreciate the help though....

and there you go Kitty more complications to contend with...

this unfortunately has exhausted my knowledge of vehicle docks; my specialist subject today will be how to tender enthusiastically for a job in Riyadh and still hope you don't get it
