All-Time Best British Gangster Film

Re: All-Time Best British Gangster Film
Ok I forced myself to watch sexy Beast the other week- I think its a boys film to be fair. Ben Kingsly does play his part well but I just find it all a bit slow... controversial I know- I did nod off for a while in it which is always a bad sign for me. Its a bit like the Godfather- have never managed to watch it in one sitting as I get bored where as men wet themselves over it.
Also watched Lock Stock again the other night- genius! Snatch is next on my list fro viewing again- love it!

I really enjoyed Sexy Beast and love all the Godfather films. I have also enjoyed all the Guy Ritchie ones and thought In Bruges was excellent. IMO what they all have in common is decent strong characters.
Is it a boy thing? I'm not sure. I like a good romcom too but so many have stupid fluffy characters that you just want to slap and are all about a woman's sole focus in life being to find a man. As if!
Other good films in the gangster genre include Leon, Donnie Brasco, Goodfellas and Ronin. I know some have disliked the latter but I loved the chemistry between Jean Reno and Robert de Niro and really wish they'd do something else together.

Yes meow but you are a ballbreaker yourself
I do like alot of ganster movies- I generally love film and this would be a genre that I would pick togo and watch but Sexy Beast and the Godfather trilogy didn't do much for me. Goodfellas was very good though.

I have some very funny mental pictures of peoples personas on here- and having met many of you I know they are completely off- but in cyberworld and my mental image it works- Meow- yours involves a latex catsuit and a cat o nine tails lol MEOW! ( this doesnt mean I have a girl crush on you mind!)

Uncannily accurate.
Perhaps this should be a new thread?

Getting back on track to talk about British Gangster films ( though wouldn't mind reading about and looking at several latex catsuits....) - how can you fall asleep over Sexy Beast? Superb movie.
And to contradict myself here - Goodfellas. Good film, but for me, not in the same league as Godfather. Leon - love that film, Jean Reno is such an underrated actor.Gary Oldman as usual plays a thoroughly nasty evil chap, which he does so well.

Her character Mathilda was supposed to be 12. The three main characters - Reno, Portman and Oldman were just all brilliant.
