Could it have anything to do with the inside way the UAE works, the fact that Aldar are partly government owned therefore guaranteed most of the construction contracts and the fact that this could be easy money for some of those insiders?

Maybe not... but I'd like to hear from someone that really understands the situation as to what the involved risks would be in these bonds.

ALDAR work in mysterious ways - they like to keep everyone in the dark! One thing's for sure though they will be very careful about working with British Contractors in future.

In my opinion the way these companies work is simple, sell off plan, get the money, start building, a couple of months later start another project and sell off plan, get the money and pump it into project 1, a couple of months later start a third project and sell off plan, pump money again into project 1, then start project 3 and sell off plan, get the money start pumping into project 2, etc etc etc...It's a never ending cycle, but now it's broken...
Basically they start a million dollar business with only 10 thousand dollars, and the rest is other people's money...
