Re: Abu Dhabi then....
I used to do the drive from Perth to Kalgoorlie for work.
Referred to the road as the killing fields - in two years had three staff killed on that road... |
Re: Abu Dhabi then....
An hour on a commute journey is perfectly doable on a daily basis. I did it for years while working in London and living in Thames Valley.
I actually found it quite relaxing and enjoyed the time I had to myself in the car. At one point I started going by train instead and didn't like it at all. Basically I discovered that I can't stand sitting next to people who haven't showered for a week or who've forgotten to brush their teeth. Or maybe I just don't like having to mingle with the plebs... Anyway I'm about to take on the 'dreaded' commute once again by the way of working in Khobar and living in Bahrain, and funnily enough I'm quite looking forward to it... What have you got to lose Spugsy? If it sucks you leave after the 3 month probation period. Your challenge is obviously that you don't drive, but like many others have suggested a carpool arrangement could suit you. I currently have a 2 minute journey to work and I haven't struggled this much to get to work on time since I was about 20 years old (and had better things to do at night than sleep). I bet you more than anything I will be on time 8 out 10 days when I start my Bahrain-Saudi commute... |
