There is also a half(above) distance race and sprint/family relay races.

How long can you hold your breath underwater ? Can training make significant gains or is it mostly determined by individual biological factors that are fixed? My underwater breath holding is pathetic

I think it is something that you can practice and improve on. I breath every 4 strokes in the pool but in open water its every 2. No doubt biological factors are a consideration though.

Cheers, just racked the bike and the run gear is all waiting for me. Had a 1.2K practice swim at the course earlier today, lovely..about to smash down some pizza then sleep..early start tomorrow.

No requirement. I never seem to get joggers nipple. I do get chafing around my nutsack if that counts, I refuse to put vaseline anywhere near that area, brings back too many memories of the Navy.

Sure is...corniche to YAS circuit twice then back out halfway across saadiyat. Its a ballbreaker if the wind is not being nice. Hardest 6hours I have ever spent on a bike and overall I found it tougher than an ironman race I done a month later.

I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment though, I'm doing the half distance this year..more sociable
