Default Multi Entry Visa

My wife and I are currently living in Canada but are British citizens. We are a couple of years from retirement so we are starting to consider our options.

Whilst doing some research we came across the Multi Entry Visa option for St Lucia.

We are interested if anyone reading this is going through this process or has maybe completed the first 2 years and have gained your permanent residence. Is the process as straight forward as it initially appears? We believe the visa lasts for 1 year then has to be renewed. Do you have to leave St Lucia for the renewal or can that be done on the island?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank in advance.
