Re: What a mistake it was to move back to UK
Weird - I didn't want to socialise with the thieves that stole my son's stereo from his car in the middle of the night. I didn't want lunch with the idiot on top of the Ford Fiesta roof as him and his mates sped past playing children at about 50 mph in a residential area. I didn't want to send a birthday card to the scrote who left a bottle of urine on my lawn.......just a week of living in a 'nice' part of the UK.
I'm not saying it's all bad but who is not awake and smelling the coffee here?

Like I said, there are places that are bad - its just some people paint the whole place as bad...and in most countries you will find a mixture of good and bad. what Im saying is, in general IMHO, the good definately outweighs the bad in terms of area, safety, environment and people. I believe that some people find it easier to paint the whole of society in a bad light because of their experience (or even not because of any experience) and it seems to fuel some perceived depravity, that, on the whole isnt there.
Of course you dont want to send a birthday card etc to the scrote who left urine on your lawn. But, i bet for every S**T like that, you could name 10 other people you WOULD want to send a birthday card to....Its not smelling the roses, its having perspective.
I notice your aviator says you live in Calgery...If all that happened honestly in a week, I can understand why youre there now

CHAV's are another, hoodies, etc....
There is basically no respect in this country as nobody enforces it, from every class of society, so why do we expect our immigrants to follow suit.
You need a disciplined enforcement of policy something this puffy government cant do as it policed by PC illiterate tw*ts.

i agree with that bit. Ideal world, id like all teenagers that havent left school with job, F Education, to do something like national service for a couple of years to get a trade learn commaradery etc. I think commarardery is going among teens, they seem to find positive teamwork really hard. maybe its the video games....? i dunno

Clearly it was one of the reasons for leaving and I'm not saying it's all roses here. the reasons for leaving were far more complex but the biggest issue where crime is concerned is that no one seems to be able to do anything about it - kids know they can get away with so much and it's left for the honest citizen to just put up with it.
I meant to just make the point that not knowing personally who is causing the problem doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist.
At the end of the day you make your choice based on what you believe - this forum seems in many ways to play to extremes. On the one hand you have people who really dislike the UK bit on the other people talking about clotted cream and bluebells......it's not as simple as that.

Someone above mentioned respect .... thats the crux for me ... there IS no respect. Sounds sad I know, but when I grew up I was taught to have respect for my elders. It was something of my generation bought up in the fifties / sixties. Nowadays in the UK thats missing a lot, even to the point of one of my nephews being a right little sod.
Now I know you have to earn respect, but respect for peoples property, respect for peoples safety ... its just missing

It is the people in the UK who say - every country has got issues - that is preventing real action occuring.
That's what I like about Australia - I speak to people all the time who say - This area needs working on, this or that is not acceptable in our society and what are we going to do about it? In England, people just shrug their shoulders and say - its like that everywhere, what can I do about it? not my problem, its worse in the States. I got my friends, I got Tesco's.
It's a real shame because a beautiful country is being ruined by complete apathy. (and extreme political correctness.)

I don't agree you have to earn respect - it should be a given as one fellow human being to another - you might then lose respect of others if you behave in a certain way.

At the end of the day you make your choice based on what you believe - this forum seems in many ways to play to extremes. On the one hand you have people who really dislike the UK bit on the other people talking about clotted cream and bluebells......it's not as simple as that.
I've always said that there are problems in the UK - crime, benefits system and immigration. There are far too many do-gooders and pc nits around, and discipline desperately needs to be brought back into schools.
It riles me though when people post ridiculous comments about how the whole country is crime ridden, overflowing with immigrants and hoodies, there are no prospects here, no health care etc., because this simply isn't true.
There are many lovely places around with friendly, polite, hard working people. I live in a working class town in the North West and travel frequently to other towns around here. All (except one which I won't name) I've found to be clean, pleasant places to visit and do not have rat infested, rubbish lined streets with hoodies and druggies on every corner as some would have us believe. I have been the victim of crime once in my life. I haven't, nor do I know anyone who has been mugged, attacked, happy slapped, murdered or burgled. (Sorry I just remembered my nan was burgled three times in the 70s).
When people like the OP come on here saying that the whole of the UK has gone to the dogs, obviously we are going to point out that this is untrue and that there are many places in the UK which are still beautiful. We are certainly not blind and do completely understand that real problems exist which have been neglected for far too long.
Sure the whole country isn't all clotted cream and bluebells but neither is it all a rat infested, pig stye overrun with druggies and hoodies.
