Pollution in UK

In the small town that I live near in Norfolk, there is an air test station beside a busy intersection that always records the air as failing to meet established pollution safety levels.
Out of town, 10 miles away on the coast, I imagine the air is relatively pollution free although that vague dirty haze in the far distance at about cloud height can be often seen, as it can around much of the earth.

This doesn't surprise me. In early 2012 when I looked for an affordable flat in London (an oxymoron?), I travelled on 27 underground trains in just a few days, and thought I would die from the pollution. I caught a train down to Devon the next morning, and the day after that suffered chest pains walking up the hill from the harbour to my hotel. Reception called an ambulance and I was whisked away. Fortunately my hotel room was kept for no charge.

I'm convinced that I'm allergic to New Zealand, never been as ill (consistently) as I am here.
